Yemen’s Houthis claim attack on Saudi Arabia’s Abha airport | Saudi Arabia News

Yemen‘s Houthi movement said early on Tuesday that it carried out attacks on Abha Airport in Saudi Arabia, the group’s Almasirah TV reported.

There was no Saudi confirmation of the attacks, while the Iran-aligned rebels did not elaborate if it was drone or a missile attack.

Abha airport has come under repeated missile and drone attacks in the past several weeks. At least 26 people were wounded in a Houthi missile attack on June 12 while last week at least one person was killed in a drone attack.

The Houthis have stepped up attacks in recent weeks against Saudi Arabia, which has been running a bloody military campaign in the Middle East’s poorest country since 2015.

The Houthi rebels took control of vast swathes of the country, including the capital Sanaa, in late 2014, forcing the internationally recognised government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi from power.
