If you are a beginner in the world of fitness, Galina Denzel, a certified personal trainer, is the inventor of a 21-day walking plan that will help you crush your New Year’s resolutions and improve your health. After all, walking is very beneficial to our bodies, as it not only melts fat, but also improves our fitness.

Bright Side would like to suggest a plan that anyone can follow to kick off their transformation journey or even just to keep themselves active and healthy!

Week 1

  • Day 1 — Start off with 5 minutes of regular walking in the morning and in the evening.
  • Day 2 — 7 minutes of walking in the morning and in the evening.
  • Day 3 — The third day of the program begins and ends with 9 minutes of walking in the morning and in the evening.
  • Day 4 — We increase the time we spend walking to 10 minutes twice a day.
  • Day 5 — 12 Minutes in the morning and in the evening, as we are getting close to the end of this first “endurance week.”
  • Day 6 — 15-minute walk in the morning and in the evening.
  • Day 7 — On our last day of the “endurance week” we walk 18 minutes in the morning and 18 in the evening and we are ready to get into Week 2.

Week 2

  • Day 8 — Here we start off with 2 minutes of easy, normal walking to warm up, then 10 minutes of fast-walking, and then we finish off with 2 minutes of easy walking to cool down.
  • Day 9 — This consists of only 20 minutes of walking at a moderate pace.
  • Day 10 — On day 10 we increase the time, so we start off with 5 minutes walking at an easy pace, then 12 minutes of fast-walking and, again, we cool off with another 5 minutes of regular walking.
  • Day 11 — Here we do 10 minutes of walking at a moderate pace again.
  • Day 12 — Like before, we start off with 5 minutes at an easy pace, then we continue with 15 minutes of fast-walking, and finish the workout off with another 5 to cool down.
  • Day 13 — On this day, we do another 20 minutes of moderate pace.
  • Day 14 — Our last day of week 2 starts off 5 minutes easy, then 18 minutes of fast-walking and, of course, another 5 to end the week with.

Week 3

  • Day 15 — We start off our last week with 10 minutes of walking up and down stairs and then 2 minutes of walking at an easy pace to cool off.
  • Day 16 — Just like how it was in Week 2, on this day you will do 20 minutes of walking at a moderate pace.
  • Day 17 — We continue with the stairs as we walk up and down them for 12 minutes with another 2-minute easy walk.
  • Day 18 — This day has a little surprise for you. Start off with 25 minutes of walking at a moderate pace and the workout off with 2 sets of 12 squats.
  • Day 19 — We walk 20 minutes up and down stairs and then cool down with a 3-minute easy walk.
  • Day 20 — Do 25 minutes of moderate pace walking.
  • Day 21 — To end this 21-day walking plan, do 20 minutes of walking at a fast pace and finish off with 3 minutes of easy walking to cool yourself down.

Walking is an easy and very good way to keep us healthy. In fact, according to this source, walking an extra 20 minutes a day will burn off 7 pounds of body fat per year!

Who is going to try this walking plan out, or at least, incorporate more walking into their daily life? Please let us know and let’s all motivate each other into bettering ourselves and our health.

Apple is now offering an onsite repair option for customers in select cities who need issues with their Apple devices addressed but aren’t able to visit a repair shop or Apple Store.

The onsite repair options are available through Apple Authorized Service Provider Go Tech Services, which promises to repair your device “at your home or office.”

When visiting Apple’s Support site to initiate a device repair, there’s now a mention of an onsite option when scheduling a repair. “Look for an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Genius Bar. In select locations, onsite service may be available.”

Onsite repairs from Go Tech Services appear to be available in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston, and Dallas. When choosing a repair option in one of these cities, Go Tech Services can be selected as one of the repair providers.

Go Tech Services is listed as the top option in cities where it is available, and selecting it warns that an onsite visit fee may be charged in addition to the provider’s standard repair cost. Apple’s support site does not include additional details about the fee, and clicking the “Book through this provider” option redirects users to Go Tech Services’ website, where an appointment can be scheduled.

On the site, users are instructed to select a date and a time for a repair, but this part of the booking process also does not include information on fees. In San Francisco, there are no available same-day appointments, with the earliest appointment available on Monday.

Apple offers onsite repairs for its enterprise customers, but until now, there has never been a similar repair option for regular consumers. Go Tech Services is an Apple Authorized Service Provider, so the repairs aren’t coming directly from Apple, but it’s akin to visiting a similar AASP like Mobile Kangaroo or Best Buy.

It’s not clear the extent of the problems that can be addressed by the onsite service provider. We were able to choose Go Tech Services for a cracked iPhone display, but not for a battery replacement.

Go Tech Services appears to operate exclusively through Apple, as visiting the company’s website redirects to a notice that repairs must be initiated through Apple’s support site.

Formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, trichloroethylene, and ammonia — an average home has all of these dangerous toxins, according to a NASA Clean Air study. It’s good that we actually have big helpers on our side — indoor plants can absorb up to 90% of these pollutants and chemicals.

Here at Bright Side we`re sure that houseplants are much more than just green decorations. Here are fifteen plants that are very beneficial for our health. Caution: you might want to buy all of these right after reading this article.

1. Jasmine

Jasmine has a great effect on our mental health due to a chemical that relieves anxiety, treats mood swings, improves sleep quality, and, in larger quantities, raises immunity and even can increase libido.

2. Spider Plant

Spider plants are great fighters against formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, and other toxic air impurities — these pollutants come with paper bags, waxed paper, napkins, plywood paneling, and synthetic fabrics. If you’re not much of a green thumb, a spider plant is perfect for you, as it doesn`t require much care.

3. Peace Lily

Peace lilies are great for home decor because, in the summer, they have beautiful white flowers, but that’s not everything they can do. This houseplant is a pro at removing air pollutants — absorbing ammonia, formaldehyde, and trichloroethylene and making the indoor air cleaner. It also produces pollen and a floral scent (beware, if you have pollen-related allergies).

4. Snake Plant

The snake plant is a great houseplant for the bedroom, as it’s known for improving indoor air quality. Snake plants remove all sorts of toxins including trichloroethylene, formaldehyde, toluene, benzene, and xylene. To optimize the air purifying process, you’ll probably need more than one plant. Considered to be one of the easiest plants to care for, snake plants like indirect sunlight.

5. Rosemary

Rosemary is mostly known as an herb that improves concentration and memory. It’s also used to ease muscle pain and boost the immune and circulatory systems. As a bonus, you can use the fresh leaves in cooking.

6. English Ivy

English ivy purifies up to 90% of airborne mold that can trigger allergies and helps people with asthma breathe better at night and have a restful sleep. Be aware that ivy is poisonous, if eaten by pets or small children.

7. Lavender

Lavender — as a plant or a sachet — is a great help to relieve stress and insomnia and soothe restlessness, nervousness, anxiety, and depression.

8. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is famous for its healing effects, it smooths and moisturizes irritated skin and treats burns, sunburn, frostbite, psoriasis, and even cold sores.

9. Golden Pothos

Golden pothos is great at removing chemicals like trichloromethyl from the air — they’re mostly found in glue, paint, and detergent. Pothos is extra hard to kill, so if you don’t have a green thumb yet, it`ll be a great starter plant for you.

10. Rubber Plant

Rubber plants tend to grow up large, though they’re not very difficult to care for. The huge leaves absorb all the bad things from the air. That`s why you shouldn’t forget to wipe the dust from the leaves.

11. Bromeliads

Bromeliads absorb up to 90% of poisonous chemicals like benzene. Bright and sunny spaces are perfect for this plant.

12. Gerbera

Recently NASA called Gerbera the best plant in removing benzene from the indoor air and producing oxygen at night. That will help those who suffer from insomnia and sleep apnea, according to the Lung Institute.

13. Boston Fern

The Boston fern is said to be a great natural humidifier. It also helps with air purifying and combating formaldehyde and other unwanted toxins. Ferns are easy to grow and prefer indirect sunlight, just check the soil daily to make sure it`s moist.

14. Azalea

In addition to being a gorgeous colorful flower, Azaleas improve indoor air by absorbing chemicals. Make sure to keep azaleas misted, because they like a humid environment.

15. Philodendron

Philodendrons are well-known for filtering out toxic chemicals like xylene and formaldehyde from the air. The plant likes low-light areas and doesn`t require much care. But might be dangerous if eaten, for small children and animals.

Do you have any of the plants we mentioned above at home? Do you know any other useful plants we could add to the list? We`d be happy to hear from you in the comments below!

The impeachment trial of US President Donald Trump may be nearing its end after the Senate voted to reject calling new witnesses.

There appears to be some disagreement, however, when the trial will come to and end. Party leaders are currently discussing options with their caucuses.

More:

As the trial rounds out its 11th day, here are all the latest updates as of Friday, January 31:

Senate blocks witnesses

The Senate has rejected calling witnesses in Trump impeachment trial.

The vote was 51-49 to block witnesses. Two Republicans – Mitt Romney and Susan Collins – vote with the Democrats in favour of witnesses.

Senate now voting on question of witnesses

After the vote, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the Senate will stand in recess.

Parnas lawyer sends letter to McConnell outlining his testimony

The lawyer for Lev Parnas, an associate of Trump’s personal lawyer who worked on efforts in Ukraine, has sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in a last ditch effort to be called as a witness in the impeachment trial.

Parnas would testify that he worked on behalf of Rudy Giuliani and “that the president and a number of the people in his administration and the GOP were aware of the demands being imposed upon Ukraine,” according to letter submitted by Parnas’s lawyer, Joseph Bondy.

Trump lawyer Philbin: Calls for new evidence used to ‘disguise’ weak case

Trump defence lawyer Patrick Lawyer, beginning the arguments against allowing new evidence, including witnesses, into the trial, said that calls for new evidence were being used to disguise “defective” articles of impeachment.

Philbin told senators the question of introducing new documents and witnesses is a “trope being used to disguise the real issues, the real decisions you’d be making”.

He said new evidence is not relevant because “these articles of impeachment on their face are defective”.

Giuliani denies new Bolton report

The president’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has denied new reported revelations in a draft of former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s unpublished book.

Bolton details a May meeting in which Trump instructed him to call the newly elected president of Ukraine to ensure a meeting with Giuliani so the president’s lawyer could push for politically motivated investigations, according to the New York Times. Bolton’s account says Giuliani, White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and the lead of Trump’s impeachment defence, Pat Cipollone, were all present for the exchange.

“The meeting the Times describes is a lie,” Giuliani tweeted. “If Bolton is the source and he believed this was so bad, why didn’t he quit? How much integrity and honor will a man sacrifice for greed and revenge?”

Schumer denies report that he and McConnell have agreed on end of trial schedule

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has denied reports that he and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had agreed on a resolution that would see a final vote on Wednesday of next week.

“We are going to use whatever power we have to prevent [the vote] from being rushed through,” said Schumer. “But right now there is no agreement.”

Schiff concludes argument for witnesses

Lead House manager Adam Schiff, in closing his arguments in favour of allowing witnesses in the trial, said “a trial without witnesses is no trial at all”.

He told Senators: “You know as well as we, that there are others you should hear from.”

McConnell, Schumer agree to Wednesday acquittal vote: report

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have agreed to a proposal that would lead to Wednesday vote on acquittal, an NBC correspondent reported on Twitter, citing two Democrat and two Republican sources.

Former White House Chief of Staff Kelly says impeachment trial without witnesses is ‘a job only half done’

John Kelly, President Donald Trump’s former chief of Staff, has again commented on the ongoing impeachment proceedings, saying a trial without witnesses is “a job only half done”.

Kelly, in an interview with New Jersey Advance Media, also said if there are no witnesses in the trial “you open yourself up forever as a Senate that shirks its responsibilities”.

Kelly had previously said he believed revelations in former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s draft book. “If John Bolton says that in the book I believe John Bolton,” Kelly said during a lecture in Sarasota, Florida.

Vote on acquittal could be put off until next week

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is considering passing a resolution that would structure the end of the impeachment trial, with a final vote on whether the president will be removed from office as late as Wednesday, according to US media.

The resolution may include a period that allows senators to voice their views on the floor in an open session, CNN reported.

Murkowski: House articles of impeachment ‘rushed and flawed’

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski, whose announcement that she will vote “no” on new allowing new evidence in the trial has scuttled Democrats hopes, said she made her decision because the articles of impeachment sent by the House to the Senate were “rushed and flawed”.

“I carefully considered the need for additional witnesses and documents, to cure the shortcomings of its [the House’s] process, but ultimately decided I will vote against considering motions to subpoena,” Murkowski said in a statement.

“Given the partisan nature of this impeachment from the very beginning and throughout, I have come to the conclusion that there will be no fair trial in the Senate,” she added. “I don’t believe the continuation of this process will change anything. It is sad for me to admit that, as an institution, the Congress has failed.”

Closely-watched Republican Murkowski says she will vote ‘no’ on witnesses

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski, who could potentially have been the tying vote in the upcoming vote on allowing new witnesses, has said she will vote “no” on Friday.

The announcement largely scuttles Democrats hopes of introducing new evidence in the impeachment trial of the President Donald Trump, including testimony from former National Security Advisor John.

The announcement leaves just two of the 53 Republicans in the Senate planning to vote for more witnesses, giving Republicans a simple majority for a “no” vote.

Schiff begins debate on witnesses referencing new Bolton report

Lead House manager Adam Schiff began Friday’s proceedings by referencing a report, in a draft of new book, former National Security Advisor John Bolton details a May 2018 meeting in which the president instructed him to help in a pressure campaign against Ukraine in pursuit of political investigations.

Schiff pointed out that the New York Times reported on Friday that the lead of President Donald Trump’s defence team, Pat Cipollone, was among the officials in the meeting described in Bolton’s manuscript.

“There’s a new fact that indicates that Mr. Cipollone was among those who were in the loop,” said Schiff. “Just another reason why we need to hear from witnesses.”

He added: “The facts will continue to come out.”

Tlaib urges Murkowski to vote for witnesses

Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib, in a tweet on Friday, urged Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski to vote to allow witnesses in the trial.

Murkowski is one of four Republicans considered open to breaking from party ranks in voting to allow more witnesses. So far, Senators Susan Collins and Mitt Romney have said they will vote in favour of allowing witnesses, while Senator Lamar Alexander has said he will vote against.

“Read the transcript of the call and the testimony of those who testified before the House Intelligence Committee. Your notes aren’t enough,” tweeted Tlaib with an article on Murkowski, who said she will make up her mind on witnesses on Friday.

Nadler tweets that he will miss the end of trial be with ill wife

Jerrold Nadler, a House manager and chairman of the chamber’s judiciary committee, has said he will miss the remainder of the impeachment trial to be with his wife, who has pancreatic cancer.

“I am sorry to not be able to stay in Washington for the conclusion of the Senate impeachment trial but I need to be home with my wife at this time. We have many decisions to make as a family,” wrote Nadler.

“I have every faith in my colleagues and hope the Senate will do what is right,” he added.

Bolton book reportedly says Trump asked him to help in Ukraine pressure campaign in May

President Donald Trump asked then National Security Advisor John Bolton to help in a pressure campaign on Ukraine to extract politically damaging information on Democrats in May of 2018, Bolton wrote in a draft of his upcoming book, the New York Times reported on Friday.

Trump told Bolton to call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to ensure that the newly elected president would meet with Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who was at the time planning a trip to Kyiv to push for the investigations, Bolton’s manuscript recounts, according to the newspaper.

The president gave the command during a meeting that included Giuliani, White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and White House lawyer Pat Cipollone, who is leading the president’s impeachment defence team.

John Bolton

The meeting reportedly detailed by Bolton is the earliest known evidence of Trump’s involvement in using the government to push for his own political interest in Ukraine, and, if accurate, shows that top Trump officials had early knowledge of the campaign.

Schumer: ‘Disturbing’ some Republicans won’t vote for witnesses

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he found it “disturbing” that some closely watched Republicans have said they will not vote for witnesses in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, but added the results of a vote is still an “open question”.

If witnesses are not allowed “this country is headed towards the greatest cover up since Watergate,” Schumer said, referencing the scandal that lead to the resignation of former President Richard Nixon.

The vote on new evidence will be the difference between “seeking the truth or covering it up, between a fair trial and a farce, between country and party,” Schumer said.

Romney to vote for witnesses

Republican US Senator Mitt Romney will vote in favour of allowing witnesses to testify, his spokeswoman said.

Romney had previously been the only Republican senator to say he wanted to hear testimony from former National Security Advisor John Bolton – one of four witnesses requested previously by Democrats. Republican Susan Collins, on Thursday, said in a tweet that she would also vote for witnesses.

Pompeo visits Ukraine, addresses aid at heart of impeachment trial

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo became the highest-ranking US official to visit Ukraine since the impeachment process began last year and addressed the military aid at the heart of the impeachment inquiry on Friday.

“The support that this administration has provided, and we talk about the assistance, that’s important, it’s certainly helpful for the Ukrainian people and it makes the difference for [the] United States as well, and to our benefits as well,” Pompeo said at a news conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“But what really matters is the relationship that’s developing between the two counties, politically and diplomatically, commercially and economically,” he added.

Witness math?

Democrats were served a significant blow on Thursday after Republican Senator Lamar Alexander, considered a possible and key swing vote, said he would not vote to hear from new witnesses.

“I worked with other senators to make sure that we have the right to ask for more documents and witnesses, but there is no need for more evidence to prove something that has already been proven and that does not meet the U.S. Constitution’s high bar for an impeachable offense,” Alexander tweeted.

On Wednesday, Senators Martha McSally and Cory Gardner, Republicans facing re-election in swing states, also said they would not vote for more witnesses.

Only three Republicans appear to be possible swing votes at this point, with only two having explicitly said they support hearing from new witnesses. If all three vote with Democrats, it would create a 50-50 tie. If Chief Justice John Roberts does not intervene to break the tie, the vote would fail to meet the majority needed to call more witnesses.

What happened during the Q and A?

With Democrats largely posing questions to House managers and Republicans largely posing questions to Trump’s defence, the questions period of the trial spanning Wednesday and Thursday largely gave both sides the chance to shore up their arguments and rebut their opponents.

In one particularly noteworthy moment on Wednesday, Trump lawyer Alan Dershowitz appeared to argue that a president could not be impeached for soliciting help in re-election from a foreign government if the president believed their re-election was in the public interest. Dershowitz later refined the much-pilloried argument on Twitter, claiming his words were mischaracterised. Read more about Wednesday’s proceedings here.

On Thursday, Chief Justice John Roberts refused to read a question from Republican Senator Rand Paul that included the name of a person that right-wing media have accused of being the whistle-blower. Paul denied the question was meant to out the whistle-blower. Read more about Thursday’s proceedings here.

Customers who have AirPods Pro that also purchased an AppleCare+ protection plan for $29 appear to be able to receive free replacement tips for their ‌AirPods Pro‌.

Multiple MacRumors readers have reported being provided replacement tips at no cost after going through Apple’s support repair steps for the ‌AirPods Pro‌.

From MacRumors reader Boshii:

I’m not sure if it’s an ‌AppleCare‌+ thing or not but I set up the replacement online and there was no fee. I was under the impression that there will be a cost even with ‌AppleCare‌+.

‌AirPods Pro‌ owners with ‌AppleCare‌+ who want to order replacement tips can do so by going to the Apple support site, choosing the ‌AirPods Pro‌, picking the option to replace an AirPod or an ear tip, selecting the option to replace the ‌AirPods Pro‌ ear tips, and then choosing the order replacement option.

When ordering replacement tips, Apple sends one pair in a specified size only, and it’s not clear if there’s a limit on the number of free replacement tips that can be ordered.

Apple’s support site and the ‌AppleCare‌+ page for headphones don’t mention the possibility of free replacement tips, instead suggesting the tips will have a $3.95 replacement fee. Ordering AirPods tips without ‌AppleCare‌+ incurs the aforementioned $3.95 fee.

NASA has awarded Maxar an estimated $142 million contract to demonstrate in-orbit spacecraft refueling and assembly of new components using a custom robotic platform in space.

The space infrastructure dexterous robot, or SPIDER, program will be part of NASA’s Restore-L mission to demonstrate automation of proposed orbital tasks like reconfiguring or repairing a satellite or manufacturing new components from scratch.

The first thing the Restore-L spacecraft will do is show that it can synchronize with, capture, connect with and refuel a satellite in orbit, then release it into a new orbit. Afterwards the craft will use a Maxar-built robotic arm to assemble a multi-panel antenna reflector, then test it.

Last, a separate piece of hardware, Tethers Unlimited’s MakerSat, will extrude a beam some 10-20 meters long, which will be inspected by the parent satellite, then detached and reattached to demonstrate its robustness.

There’s no hard timeline for the mission yet, but it’s intended to take off the mid 2020s. This isn’t a small-scale experiment that can fly up next week in an Electron — it’s a big, expensive one that will likely take up most of a large rocket’s payload.

Although it’s only a demonstration, a Maxar representative pointed out that it is very close to what would be an operational system on other satellites in the future. It has also been previously demoed on the ground, though of course that’s no substitute for the real thing.

Robotic arms are something of a specialty for Maxar, which has delivered six total for NASA, including the one on Insight (currently on the Red Planet) and the Mars 2020 Rover (due to receive its official, inspirational name any day now).

We’ll have Maxar’s head of space robotics onstage at TC Sessions: Robotics + AI in March at UC Berkeley, so be sure to join us there if you’d like to hear more about the business of building space robots.
