We are looking for a Director of Communications to boost TheSoul Publishing company’s brand awareness and tell our amazing story to the world.
TheSoul Publishing is one of the largest worldwide, digital-born media publishers in the world. We are the parent company behind the wildly successful DIY video channel 5-Minute Crafts, the inspiring and creative channel Bright Side, and other tremendously popular channels across YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. We have a global presence with over 700 million subscribers and followers.
Now we are looking for a Director of Communications to join us in New York City.
Job Description:
- Work closely with VP of Communications and Executive Leadership Team to develop long and short-term press strategies on behalf of TheSoul Publishing.
- Provide advice and consultation regarding incoming press inquiries and communication issues.
- Manage PR agencies by assisting department head in day-to-day operations of global PR agencies. This includes, but is not limited to conducting brainstorm sessions, conference calls, and offering feedback on written communications (i.e. press releases).
- Build and maintain relationships with key members of the media — including the setting of informal lunches and meetings.
- Develop and lead PR campaigns for TheSoul Publishing’s individual channels by partnering with key stakeholders, including channel producers, to create and craft proactive press coverage.
- Recommend and manage communications across external company channels including TheSoul Publishing’s social pages.
- Provide communications advice and support to external facing stakeholders including sales, HR, and recruitment.
- Serve as writer for internal communications messaging.
Experience must include:
- 10+ years’ experience in corporate communications within the media industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-starter, positive attitude and the ability to be a team player.
- An excellent work ethic, including the flexibility for after-hours / weekend related press tasks, as needed.
- The ability to multitask and operate in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
- Established press relations in the media industry space, with particular emphasis on U.S. based media.
- The ability to build relationships with our executives, journalists, and colleagues around the world.
- Proven track record of working effectively with senior executives.
