9 Tips That Can Help You Clean Your Kitchen in Less Than 10 Minutes
Cleaning the kitchen can be frustrating, especially when you are a busy person or a parent and the kids keep messing up everything. If you want a sparkly and fresh kitchen in no-time, you’ve come to the right place.
At Bright Side, we made a list of sanitation tips that will make your life in the kitchen easier. You can now enjoy cooking without thinking about the burden of cleaning that’ll follow.
1. Boil a lemon in water to steam-clean your microwave.
How to do it:
- Add the juice of one lemon to a glass of water, along with the peel.
- Put it in a bowl in the microwave for 5 minutes on high power.
- Leave it in there for 15 minutes. The steam will do the hard work and you can easily remove the dirt afterward by wiping it with a cloth.
2. Boil orange slices with spices to get rid of any smell.
How to do it:
- Cut an orange into slices and put them in a pot with water. Remember that the water should cover the oranges.
- Place the pot on the stove and add your favorite spices. Cinnamon or nutmeg and cloves are probably the most effective ones.
- Turn on the stove and let it boil for as long as you want. In just 5 minutes you’ll start to smell the scent in the air. You can refill the water and use the mixture more than once.
3. Mix lemon oil and vinegar to polish wood cabinets.
How to do it:
- Fill half a spray bottle with lemon oil and the other half with white vinegar.
- Spray this mixture and wipe all wooden surfaces with a dry microfiber towel. Your cabinets will shine bright in no time. If you don’t have a microfiber towel, you can also use a paper towel.
4. Sprinkle Turkish coffee powder on dirty dishes to avoid any leftover smells.
How to do it:
- Put the dirty, preferably dry, dishes in the sink and sprinkle a few spoonfuls of coffee powder on top.
- Wait a few seconds and then start washing without rinsing the coffee powder off.
- Rinse with warm water and you’ll have shiny sweet-smelling dishes in no time.
5. Clean cheese graters with half a lemon.
How to do it:
- Cut a lemon in half and rub the grater using the juice side of it.
- After you are done, rinse the utensil with warm water and there you have it. Like new!
6. Salt will help you with sloppy spills in the oven.
How to do it:
- When you are done baking, while the oven is still hot, sprinkle salt on top of the spills.
- Wait a few minutes. The salt will turn to ash and this is the perfect moment for you to wipe away the hot mess once and for all.
7. Use lemon wedges to clean and sharpen blender blades.
How to do it:
- Cut one or 2 lemons in quarters and freeze the slices.
- Drop the wedges in and start the blender, keeping it on for 1 to 3 minutes.
- Wash off with water and the blades will be shiny and sharp, like they were when you just bought it.
8. Try vinegar to clean and sanitize your dishwasher.
How to do it:
- Fill a glass bowl or a Pyrex container with 2 cups of vinegar.
- Run it on the hot cycle, without any other dishes and just let the vinegar do its thing.
9. Use aluminum foil and apple cider vinegar to remove hard water stains from pots and pans.
How to do it:
- In a dry pan, drop some apple cider vinegar and scrub the inside with a piece of scrunched aluminum foil.
- After scrubbing for a few seconds, you’ll notice a black color, which is absolutely normal because of the chemical reaction. Wash with some water and dishwashing soap and admire your pan that looks “like new.”
- Also, don’t worry about the aluminum foil scratching the stainless steel. This won’t happen since it’s not as hard as the steel.
