5 Steps for Makeup Removal That Are a Must If You Want to Keep Your Skin Looking Young Longer
Science claims that women seem more competent when they wear makeup. And we’re used to thinking that applying cosmetics requires a specific technique and a lot of time. But we forget that washing it off is also no simple matter. Removing makeup is a special ritual that needs to be taken seriously.
We at Bright Side outlined 5 simple steps that will help you remove makeup without damaging your skin. Believe us, just washing your face is not enough.
Step 1: Before removal
Makeup removal begins with the preparation for this process. So first, you need to purchase the necessary set of facial cleansers. If you have oily skin, you should choose products that are free of oil, while products with a moisturizing effect are suitable for dry skin. And it’s better to purchase a separate eye cleanser. Be sure to pull your hair back so that it doesn’t interfere with the cleansing. It’s better to pre-clean your skin with a special wet wipe.
Step 2: Removing makeup from the eyes
You may prefer oil-based cleansers if you use waterproof cosmetics or you can use any other cleanser that is good for you. Moisten a cotton pad thoroughly with the product and press it on the eye. Wait for 10-20 seconds and then move the pad over the eye gently, without rubbing it. The skin around eyes is very delicate.
Don’t move the pad back and forth. Move it one direction from the inner side to the outer side. Then turn the pad to the clean side and slide it down on the eyelashes.
Step 3: Removing makeup from the lips
Next, it’s worth removing makeup from the lips, so you don’t spread the lipstick all over your face. You can use special products, although regular petroleum jelly is also great. Apply it on your lips, wait for up to 5 minutes, and wipe it with a cotton pad. Don’t rub too hard, so you don’t damage your lips.
Step 4: Removing makeup from your face
You can start with micellar water. Dampen a cotton pad with the product and wipe your face. Don’t forget about the area under the jaw and behind the ears. Be sure to clean your hair line, because cosmetics also get in there. Afterward, you can use makeup remover, applying it with circular motions on the face and neck.
Rinse your face with water and pat it dry with a towel. You can use a paper towel to prevent the spread of bacteria. Don’t rub your skin, just soak it with water.
Step 5: After removal
It’s very important to take care of your skin after removing your makeup. This is the last stage of the procedure. You can gently massage your face to give it elasticity and increase blood flow. And you definitely need to apply a moisturizer so that your skin doesn’t dry out.
