8 Simple Drugstore Products That Work Just as Well as Expensive Beauty Treatments

Excessive sweat, acne, stretch marks, or cracked heels — we might feel pressured to spend extra money to fix the problems with our body. Though, the cheapest and most effective remedies can be found at the closest drugstore. No need to overpay for high-end beauty brands when they have exactly the same effect as their cheap alternatives.

Bright Side is always looking for effective and inexpensive ways to improve our lives. That’s why we can’t wait to show you this list of 8 awesome products that can save your day, and your money!

1. Aspirin and lemon juice for cracked heels

Simply grind 10 aspirin pills into a powder and add some lemon juice to make a paste. Then apply the mixture with a cotton pad onto your damaged heels. Use gauze and a plastic bag to secure the cotton pad on your feet and let it stay overnight. This procedure will help you to exfoliate dead skin cells and make the skin on your heels softer and smoother.

2. Listerine for sweaty armpits

Listerine is a popular mouthwash, but it has way more interesting uses. It contains thyme, eucalyptus, and alcohol that all have antiseptic properties, and it can save you in many unpleasant situations. For example, it can replace your deodorant and help you stop excessive sweat under your armpits. Apply a little bit of Listerine using a cotton pad, rub it under your clean and dry armpits, and enjoy the freshness all day long!

3. Petroleum jelly for acne

Apart from applying it on your lips, you can use Vaseline on your cheeks to heal acne if you suffer from it. It creates a barrier on your skin which doesn’t allow moisture to escape and helps your skin to repair itself and heal naturally. If you rub it on top of your night moisturizer or acne remedy, Vaseline can make it work even better. At the end, you will be left with calm and soft skin.

4. VapoRub for reducing stretch marks

Stretch marks can appear on the skin due to a pregnancy or a sudden weight gain or loss. Though, they are really hard to get rid of, their appearance can be made less visible. VapoRub contains eucalyptus, cedar leaf, camphor, and turpentine oil. The ingredients moisturize, soothe, and make the skin more elastic and healthier looking. Some women say that VapoRub has managed to reduce the appearance of their stretch marks by 60%.

5. Baby powder for voluminous eyelashes

This cheap product is able to save you money on volumizing mascara. All you need to do is apply your ordinary mascara, then coat a Q-tip with some baby powder, and dust it over your eyelashes. After this, apply an extra coat of mascara on top, and voilà!

6. Sudocrem for peeling and blistering sunburns

Sudocrem can be used as a thick moisturizer that can save your skin if you burned it out in the hot sun. This type of skin damage can cause a lot of pain, but this cream is able to ease it. It is also able to prevent scars from appearing after the burn heals. This is a true must have product if you’re planning to escape on vacation to a hot country.

7. Apple cider vinegar for finger and cuticle infections

Nail fungus is a common infection that can appear after a bad manicure or damage to your nail plate. Apple cider vinegar will save the day in this case! Soak your fingers in a little basin with some warm water and vinegar. Also, it can help your nails to grow stronger and faster.

8. Duct tape for warts

Warts are mostly caused by a virus, but can usually be removed without any medical treatment. Duct tape can be a great help in removing them. All you need to do is to apply a small piece of duct tape right on top of the wart and just leave it. Once every 3 to 6 days, remove the duct tape, and file the wart with a pumice stone.

When the wart gets exposed — soak your feet in a basin with warm water. After 10-12 hours of air exposure, apply a new piece of a duct tape, and repeat the procedure until it’s fully gone.
